Frequently Asked Questions

Rafting experience frequently asked questions

What is rafting?
The word was originally derived from the word raft (raft), and you can think of it as going down rapids in a rubber boat. The rubber boats used for rafting tours are large rubber boats suitable for rapids, with a capacity of eight people (one of whom is a river guide, and the maximum number of participants is seven). Rafting is the most exciting sport like no other, in which tour participants in a rubber boat work together to row down the rapids.
What should I prepare?
Swimwear (shorts like competitive swimming spats are OK) and shoes that you don't mind getting wet (sandals are not allowed. Shoes that cover your toes and have sturdy heels to prevent injuries when walking on rocks, etc.) are essential. In spring and autumn, the air and water temperatures drop, so please avoid synthetic T-shirts, sweatshirts (fleece jackets, tracksuits, etc.), and cotton products. In summer, the air and water temperatures are warm, so you can participate in rafting in casual clothing. Please bring a rash guard, synthetic T-shirt, shorts, etc. (Cotton products are not allowed)
Can I wear glasses or contact lenses?
If you fall into a torrent, you will definitely be swept away. If you wear glasses, please bring a glasses band, and if you wear contact lenses, please bring goggles. Glasses bands and goggles will be sold on-site on the day.

Canoeing and Kayaking Frequently Asked Questions

What is a canoe? How is it different from a boat?
Generally speaking, a canoe is a vehicle in which the rider sits facing forward in the direction of travel, using a paddle. In contrast, a boat is a vehicle in which the rider sits facing backward in the direction of travel, using oars. (Boats are often seen on lakes.)
What is the difference between river kayaking and sea kayaking?
As the name suggests, they are divided into two types: for rivers and for the ocean. River kayaks are built to be short, about 3m to 2m long, because they require quick direction changes and weight shifts to deal with complex river conditions (rocks, drop-offs, currents and no currents, etc.), and to allow for overall maneuverability. Sea kayaks are characterized by their longer length, about 4m to 5m, to provide stability and straight-line stability so that they can withstand high waves and swells in the ocean.
What is the fun of canoeing and kayaking?
There are many ways to enjoy canoeing and kayaking, but one of them is touring. Canoeing and kayaking are unique in that you can enjoy the ever-changing natural scenery as you paddle through the mountains reflected on the water's surface and glide along the current. At goodRAC adventure, Kizugawa touring is conducted on a gentle river so that even beginners can enjoy touring. This tour is safe and easy to participate in, even for first-time canoeists.
